Description:

Modern fully automatic processor controlled electronic device with self accumulator and capacitor voltage monitoring.
Fully automatic controled accumulator charging.
Intended to ignite electrical bridge detonators of type SO and Sicca in serial and serial/parallel connection to initialize explosives on ground, underground and in explosive environments.
Blasting machine is built into case of formed metal plate.
Powered by rechargeable NIMH accumulator with voltage 9.6 V.
Controls are located on front panel, two push buttons, 2 indicator lights, of which left one shows accumulator status and right one shows capacitor charging status.
Main switch - working mode key is located on the right side of the device.
Capacitor charging is provided by power source which consists of accumulator battery, phase changer, transformer and rectifier.
Blasting circuit leads are connected by screw clamps to ensure perfect contact.
Reliability and safety of electrical detonators initialization at blasting operations are ensured by built-in protective bonding circuits:

a) protective processor controlled circuit against capacitor overcharge - when capacitor is charged, the capacitor voltage is stabilized and not increased by further charging.

b) protective circuit against ignition when capacitor voltage is insufficient - ignition is permitted only when red charging indicator light is blinking.

Handling:

Operating VTR-2 is very easy and consists of these basic parts:

Turning on
Capacitor charging
Firing
Accumulator charging
Automatic power shut-off

1. Turning on

After swithing on the main switch (key) to position 1 (charging), the green indicator light indicating fair state will light up.
If the red indicator light will light up or none at all, then the accumulator is discharged and it's necessary to charge it according to paragraph 4.

2. Capacitor charging

Switch the key to position 1 (charging) and push and hold the "Charge" button to charge capacitor. It's indicated by orange indicator light. Charging is interrupted, when the button is released.
If indicators will put out during capacitor charging or when capacitor is charged the red indicator will light up (continuous lighting), then the accumulator is discharged and it's necessary to charge it according to paragraph 4.
When charging is completed, the orange indicator light will go out and green indicator light will light up and red indicator light on the right will start to blink (Charged).
After the charging is completed, release the "Charge" button.

3. Firing

Switch the key to position 2 (Fire)
Blastoff is possible only when the red indicator light is blinking (Carged). If it's not blinking, it's necessary to charge capacitor according to paragraph 2.
It's activated by "FIRE" button, which is limited only for one shot per one capacitor charge. After fire, switch the key to position 1 (Charging) if it's required to charge the capacitor again, or turn off the blasting machine by switching the key to position 0 (Off)

4. Accumulator charging

When the blasting machine is turned off (key in position 0), insert charger connector (adapter 12 to 15 V/1A) or leading-in cable with connector from car battery into connector on the side of the device and switch the key to position 1 (Charging). Green indicator will start to blink, which indicates charging. If it won't start to blink, then the connected charger or other power source has incorrect voltage.
Finished charging is indicated by continuous lighting of the green indicator.
When charging is finished, turn off the device (switch the key to position 0 - Off) and pull out the connector from the device.
Note: Even if the charging is finished (continuous lighting of green indicator), when connected to charging power source with key in position 1, the accumulator is sustained by so-called sustaining impulses.

5. Automatic power shut-off

If after swithing on the blasting machine there will be no manipulation with controls (buttons, key), it will automatically turn off after cca 15 minutes.
This function is not active during accumulator charging.
By switching the key to positioin 1 (Charging) and pushing the "Charge" button phase changer is activated and capacitor is charged via transformer. In "Charging" mode the output clamps are mechanically blocked (shorted) by lock and electronically blocked by switching thyristor.
Charging of the capacitor to working voltage 1200 V is ensured by microprocessor and it's indicated by blinking of the red indicator located on control panel
By switching the key to position 2 (Fire), shorting of clamps is unblocked and blasting machine is ready for ignition. By pressing "FIRE" button, the capacitor is discharged through blasting circuit leads connected to output clamps and detonators will be activated.
Electronics of VTR-2 are assembled on printed circuit boards.
Whole circuit board is sealed in special material to enhance water and vibrations resistance.
Product number and load characteristics for "SO" and "Sicca" detonators are on back side.
Adapter to charge accumulator is self-contained component of VTR-2 and it's intended to charge built-in accumulator battery. Plug in the charger output connector into switched off device (key in position 0) and plug the charger to mains socket outlet (230 V) or connect the blasting machine to other convenient power source. Then switch the key to position 1. On correct power supply function the green indicator light signaling feed source functionality will start to blink.
Charging time is controlled by microprocessor depending on accumulator discharge.
When full capacity of accumulator battery is reached, the green indicator will light up, which means that battery charging is completed and accumulator sustaining is in progress.
After disconnecting the adapter or feeder, the blasting machine is ready for use.
In accumulator charging mode all other functions are mechanically and electronically blocked.
Lead in cable with car connector serves the purpose of alternative possibility to charge built-in accumulator battery of the blasting machine, if mains supply (230 V) is not available and it's not possible to use adapter.
Accumulator can be charged from DC voltage source 12V to 15V (self-contained or from car)
Plug in the output connector of lead in cable into switched off device (working mode key in position 0 - Off) and the other end of the lead in cable (car connector) into car socket or self-contained power source with specified parameters. Then switch the working mode key to position 1 (Charging).
Blasting machine cannot be used with external power supply.
Blasting machine is shipped with leather protective jacket with strap, line adapter for accumulator charging and lead in cable to check device status and to connect with alternative power source (charging in car).
